Prayers - October 1998
ANSWERED PRAYERS
- That the actual purchase of the land for our clinic is successfully
completed!
- That the architect here in Bucharest and the engineer/architect from
Oradea who works with Jewell Building Systems (out of North Carolina) seem to
be able to work together well!
- That Gabi was able to find doctors to whom we could give our excess
medicines, who appear to be honest and who seemed to appreciate the meds!
- That all these conferences have helped us to meet many pediatric
specialists, as well as Christians who are involved in charitable work here.
This country's society is based on relationships!
- That Linda got a really good score on her Family Practice Board
Recertification test in July! We just got the results 2 weeks ago.
PRAYER REQUESTS
- For the Lord's continued guidance, and opening of doors, as we work with
the two architects to obtain the approvals needed before building can start.
Also, guidance regarding the design of the clinic, that we don't overlook any
requirements.
- That the Lord will bring more donors toward our clinic project. Campus
Crusade for Christ is interested in buying the second floor, and will also
need financing for this.
- That we'll gradually get to know more specialists that we can trust.
We're beginning to work on building a network of doctors for referral
purposes, but even when doctors treat us very well, it's more difficult to
find out whether they will treat poor patients well, who don't have money for
under the table gifts. While we were delivering medicines, we met a surgeon
who had done a laparoscopic appendectomy on one of the Christian African
students, and who refused to take any money, even when it was offered.
Usually, the Africans are discriminated against almost as much as the gypsies.
- For continued safety, unity and good health for us.
- For Daniel Achim, a 23 year old Christian man who has just been diagnosed
with a lymphoma, a type of cancer. His father has been a leader of the
Christian church in Romania, even during the Communist years. Pray
specifically that he will receive the best care, either here or possibly in
England, and that he will be completely healed.
- For the Lord's continued provision for all our financial needs, both for
our personal Support Fund and our Work Fund, which is currently the supporting
fund for our clinic project as well as our other work expenses.
- That God will raise up more missionaries to work in Romania. That people
will realize that God uses ordinary people to accomplish wonderful things in
His Name and for His Kingdom.
- For the country of Romania: 1) that the leaders of this country will
follow the Lord and seek to do His will, and that they will continue to oppose
corruption and dishonesty at all levels of the government and society, 2)
against the spirits of deception and corruption in this country, 3) for a
revival in the church in Romania and for a "Promise Keepers" type revival
among the men in Romania.
