Prayers - November 1999
ANSWERED PRAYERS
- Praise that the Lord spoke to Milt in his time of discouragement and set
his eyes back on Him and His power and provision!
- Praise that Linda's asthma is doing better--she was off her meds for a
couple weeks until a new cold, but now it's improving again.
- Praise for the Lord's continued provision for our personal financial
needs, through our World Mission Prayer League Support Fund.
- Praise for continued safety and unity.
PRAYER REQUESTS
- For guidance from the Lord on the building project. Our options are: 1)
to proceed with the current building planned (we have about enough funds
currently for the foundation and the outside shell of the building) and wait
until additional funding comes in to finish the clinic part, 2) to put the
entire building project on hold until more donations come in, so that we can
at least finish the clinic floor of the building, 3) to start over from
scratch, trying to find a different piece of land on which we could build a
one story building (the architect doesn't think there is anywhere in
Bucharest that is zoned for one story buildings), 4) to start over by
designing a smaller 2-story building, splitting the clinic into 2 floors (not
as effective for teaching residents). If you hear the Lord speaking to you
about this, please communicate with us.
- For improved health. This is Linda's second cold in the last 2 months,
each with asthma flares, she also had a bladder infection a couple of weeks
ago which flared her recurrent yeast infections, and now Milt has a cyst in
his cheek that just appeared last week.
- For guidance on how to again become involved in teaching. We met with
Dr. Busoi 2 days ago and he invited us to see patients with him at his clinic
for a teaching/learning situation. He is the former head of the Romanian
General Practice organization and current editor of their journal.
- For more donors to our clinic project. If anyone knows of any
foundations who might support this sort of project overseas, please let us
know.
- For continued safety and unity.
- For the ICC orphanage children, that they will continue to grow in the
loving environment there, and that those with developmental delay and medical
problems will be healed by the Lord. Also, for adoptive parents for them.
- For God to bring the Romanian parliament to their senses so that they
will vote down a proposed religion law. This new law would make the Orthodox
church the "national church" and would require any new church in an area to
have 5% of the population of that locality as members in order to receive a
legal standing, to be able to conduct business, buy land to build a church,
pay a pastor, etc. That means that in an average town of 300,000 people, a
new church would need 15,000 members! It also would require any new
denomination wanting to get legal standing in the country to have 0.5% of the
national population of 23 million people as members, i.e. 115,000 people.
There are many other articles in the law which threaten religious freedom as
well. It is believed that the Parliament will not be likely to listen to the
complaints of Christians in Romania, but that it will listen to complaints by
American congressmen, since Romania depends on the West for money for
development. So, please, if you know a congressman, contact him and ask him
to get involved in helping block this law.
- That God will raise up more missionaries to work with us in Romania. We
need people with clinic organization and management skills and evangelism
skills.
- For the country of Romania: 1) that the leaders will follow the Lord and
seek to do His will, and that they will recommit themselves to opposing
corruption and dishonesty at all levels of the government and society, 2)
against the spirits of deception and corruption in this country, 3) for a
revival in the church in Romania and for a "Promise Keepers" type revival
among the men in Romania.
