Prayers - January 2001
ANSWERED PRAYERS
- Praise that the government finally refunded our 2nd & 3rd quarter VAT to
us!
- Praise that the construction continues and there have been no injuries or
thefts so far!
- Praise for God's continued provision for the clinic project's financial
needs!
- Praise for continued good health, safety and unity!
- Praise that 6 children from the orphanage have been adopted!
- Praise for the mild winter so far, which has really helped those without
heat!
PRAYER REQUESTS
- For the people of Romania, that they will be able to survive the winter,
especially those without heat or adequate nutrition. Please pray for a
continued mild winter, and that the economy will improve so that pensions can
increase. Also, pray for rain (not snow) because the drought here is the
worst in many years.
- For God to continue to lead people to donate to our clinic project.
Donations toward the clinic are best given to Open Door Medical Ministries,
C/O Clifford Olson, 9210 Science Center Drive, New Hope, MN 55428. For
donations to our Work Fund, Support Fund, Travel Fund and Personal Gift Fund,
they still should go to World Mission Prayer League, 232 Clifton Ave.,
Minneapolis, MN 55403, specifying to which fund you wish to give. (WMPL
prefers not to duplicate the work of ODMM.)
- That we will receive the refund of our 4th quarter VAT promptly. The
papers were submitted yesterday. The law states that it is supposed to be
refunded within 30 days, but the usual delay is 6 months if at all.
- For us and for Ruxanda, our foundation director, as we prepare to turn
over all of the work and responsibility to her for the 4 months that we're
gone. That we'll be able to get the workload organized for her before we
leave and that she'll be able to make as much progress as possible on
obtaining the "aviz de functionare" (approval to function permits) while
we're in the U.S.
- For the safety of all the workers on the construction project, for
protection against theft of materials and tools, and also for no major delays
in the construction process.
- That the process of getting connected to the city electricity and gas
will be completed soon, and without any more delays caused by corruption.
The gas pipes are under the street, and the workers are digging the trench to
the building! The subcontractor in charge of the electricity connection
says he'll be able to start work in 2 weeks.
- For our citizenship process to finally be successfully completed. Our
lawyer found out that there shouldn't be any problem with our being on home
assignment, since the new government probably won't do anything on this in
the next 6 months. It's not on their priority list. We still need
citizenship to be able to get licenses to practice medicine independently.
- For more opportunities to witness effectively in this culture.
- For continued good health, safety and unity.
- For the ICC orphanage children--for adoptive parents for the children or
that their own parents will take them home and love them and care for them.
- That God will raise up more missionaries to work with us in Romania. We
need people with clinic organization and management skills, Christian
counseling and evangelism skills.
- For the new government in Romania--that they will govern for the benefit
of the people and will not immediately become corrupted by the privileges of
power.
- For the country of Romania: 1) that the new leaders will rediscover the
meaning of integrity, 2) against the spirits of deception, self-deception and
corruption that are so dominant in this country, and 3) for a revival in the
church in Romania, especially among the men, for their hearts and their
minds.
