Prayers - December 1998

PRAISES

  1. That the P.U.D. (Urban Development Plan) for the clinic was approved quickly. The preliminary plans that the architect has drawn up look good, and so we hope that now the American company can give a more precise cost estimate.

  2. For the good spirit of cooperation that seems to exist between all the people involved in the clinic project. Obviously keep praying for this.

  3. For continued good health, safety and unity between us.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. For Rebekah York and Larisa Tomeci! We spent several hours today taking them to one of the pediatric hospitals here. Rebekah developed a large infection in the front of her neck overnight last night, and was hospitalized for IV antibiotics and she may possibly need a small surgery to drain the infection. She is 4 years old, from the U.S. and her parents are here with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Larisa is 9 months old and came down from Brasov after being hospitalized there for 2 weeks with a fever despite multiple antibiotics. She's been sick for a month. Her parents are on the Romanian staff of Alege Viata (Campus Crusade for Christ). Please pray for rapid healing for both children, and that God will guide the doctors in their testing and treatment!

  2. That we will receive information promptly regarding the estimated cost of the clinic structure which will be brought over from the U.S., and that it will be a reasonable amount.

  3. For the Lord's continued guidance, and opening of doors, as we work with the two architects involved in our project, and that the architect here in Bucharest will be able to obtain all the approvals needed before building can start. Also, guidance regarding the design of the clinic, that we don't overlook any requirements.

  4. That the Lord will bring more donors toward our clinic project. Donations can go either to our Work Fund at World Mission Prayer League, or to our newly established support organization, Open Door Medical Ministries (address is in our Christmas letter). It appears that the clinic portion of the building will need roughly another $100,000 more than what we have at present. The land is already payed for.

  5. For the Lord's continued provision for all our financial needs, including our Support Fund. Last month was the first month since coming here that our Support Fund reached zero.

  6. Campus Crusade for Christ is very interested in buying the second floor of our clinic building and will need financing for this. Obviously, we'd like prayer for success in their fundraising, too.

  7. Many missionaries here are still having major problems getting their visas renewed. Pray that the Department of Religions will recognize the importance of the work that missionaries are doing here and be more cooperative.

  8. For Daniel Achim, the young man who is receiving cancer treatment in Scotland for his lymphoma, that he will be completely healed and that the Lord will provide people who can support him emotionally and spiritually while he is away from his family and friends, probably six months.

  9. That the Traistaru family will receive strength and courage from the Lord to follow through with getting Flori evaluated for possible surgery before Dr. Pesamosca, the best pediatric surgeon here, retires.

  10. For continued safety, unity and good health for us.

  11. That God will raise up more missionaries to work in Romania. That people will realize that God uses ordinary people to accomplish wonderful things in His Name and for His Kingdom.

  12. For the country of Romania: 1) that the leaders of this country will follow the Lord and seek to do His will, and that they will continue to oppose corruption and dishonesty at all levels of the government and society, 2) against the spirits of deception and corruption in this country, 3) for a revival in the church in Romania and for a "Promise Keepers" type revival among the men in Romania.
